Dude, I know that you're not terribly happy up there right now, but that is why being up in that part of the country is so great. You can do all of that in a weekend. Awesome!

Be patient. Recreate your life as you want it to be, and as part of that process change your geographical location to the place you feel best suits you.

It's a process.

I will say it again. They are not serious about any of this until they get serious about nuclear energy.
Also, this is your best post in a while.

Firstly, you are dead on about the ice core samples. I saw a British documentary that says that Al got it wrong in his movie. The scientist in that movie says that the ice core samples show that CO2 levels went up only after global temperatures went up. So while there is correlation between the two the causation appears to be the opposite of Al's theory. Once again though, there's no way to prove causation; only correlation.

Secondly, let me urge you not to give the scientists a pass quite so quickly. Let me lay down a scenario. I'm a research scientist working for a research university (Harvard, Yale, MIT wherever). I spent at least 7-9 years in school and now have a job that is interesting, the pay is good enough that I live a comfortable life but by no means am I wealthy. I have a family, a mortgage and three kids getting close to college age. My employment at the university depends on my publishing papers and getting grants for research. Now, what will get me more grant money and allow me to publish more research papers? The earth might be seeing a warming trend but this trend is consistent with the way the earth has worked for millennia? Or the earth is warming catastrophically due to man's evil ways?

It's always good to remember that self interest is a powerful motivation for most people.
